Olympics - Great, they are over

I have not watched any of it as it seemed like a classic borefest to me. Of course, my newspaper was full of it, going on about 'our wonderful medal haul'. On closer inspection, the Gold medal tally was just 14 and the first and second losers were 22 and 29. Am I supposed to be excited? We do not celebrate coming second in most sports, only the winners get the accolades. Are these first, second, and third positions just to keep a few competitors happy given the scale of the entrants? I am sure the Americans will do a better job in the next Olympics the French were useless compared to Australia and the UK games.

Ce's la vie

I watched 5mins in total. I saw Tom Cruise's stunt this morning, I think it was overstated, he came down on a rope and left on a bike, what's the big deal about! Stadium was quiet, didn't seem to impress them.

I was on a re-enactment last weekend and amongst the visitors was a French family who said they had left Paris for three weeks to escape the Olympics.
I could take it or leave it to be honest. The bits I saw were only when I came in and my wife was watching it. I watched a bit of the skateboarding which was mainly teenage girls falling off a plank on wheels but it was at least more entertaining than some sports . The sycronised swimming and diving I didn’t get and next time I can add breakdancing to that list. I suppose it’s all good for those that like their sports but it’s not going to get me watching any more…
