UPVC Door Adjust Flag Hinge

Post by Onar »

Hello guys,

Tried to adjust Flag Hinges on UPVC door with 5mm Allen Key, but when I turn the Allen Key it cannot grip, it just go around in the plastic.

I cannot understand why they use plastic for door adjustment.

Is it possible to get Flag Hinges with metal adjustment/.

Thank you.

Yes. As I do not know what size you want, I suggest look on line, there are lots available.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

UPVC Door Adjust Flag Hinge

When you open the door and look at the hinges, you should see maybe two screws which hold the cover of the hinge in place if you remove these screws you will get better access to the adjustment screw.
You will then be able to use your 5 mm Hex key to adjust the door. What I normally find is that you only have to adjust the top and middle hinges where the door has dropped at an angle, rarely have I seen a door that dropped vertically , only at a slight angle.
If the door is quite old then you will only have adjustment for the door dropping at an angle, the older hinges don’t usually have a screw at the top to adjust the vertical up and down.
I hope that helps.
