Any experience with peel&stick vinyl flooring?

I am looking to replace the carpet in my hallway with some kind of hard flooring that is more suited to an environment where you come in from outside with wet coats, shoes etc. Basically want something that I can easily wipe up water, mop it etc.

I have discounted laminate as I think it will be too thick to be compatible with the doors and thresholds especially once I add some mats for wiping shoes. I have also discounted sheet vinyl as too tricky to install in a space with so many odd shapes, thresholds etc.

So my options are go expensive with LVT or go cheaper with P&S vinyl planks.

I think the LVT would be very hard wearing and wouldn't require me to do any levelling/repairs of the underfloor. However I am worried that if I get any damaged areas I would have to lift the entire floor to fix them. Also the install will be harder due to how stiff and unforgiving the LVT planks are.

I think if I go P&S it might not last as long (though I suspect still plenty long enough) but I suspect the install will be faster and easier and also if I get any damaged areas it should be possible in theory to simply lift a piece out anywhere on the floor and replace it with a spare (I would buy an extra pack for repairs). I will however need to make the floor underneath perfectly smooth as there will be no underlay.

Any thoughts?

Have you thought of sheet vinyl? The designs are excellent these days and are identical in look to planks. If the floor is uneven you could have a thin hardboard substrate tacked down. All of this could easily be ripped up if needed and possibly relaid.

Vinyl stick down tiles, lots of colours / patterns, and if you must, yes you can lift them up (But you can't put same one back down)

Hopefully won't need to lift one but good to know it's possible.

How have they been durability wise?

Hard to say, they have been down a couple of years, I don't wear hobnail boots, and they are cleanable with a mop.

My experience was that they were dead easy to fit, but not very hard wearing - bits of small grit gradually wore off the top coat leaving them marked. May just be the quality of the strips.

Thanks for the feedback, hopefully that won't be an issue in our case.
