Bathroom Wall Prep

Hi,
I'm after some advice having had conflicting opinions.
On the right-hand stud wall, I am installing 12mm nomoreply. The stud work is being replaced.
On the left-hand wall, I have brick followed by plaster. For me to be able to tank appropriately, would it be best if I removed all plaster from the brickwall and replace with nomoreply - so that I have a clean 90 degree angle butting two pieces of nomoreply together - or is there a better option?
I'd prefer not to install nomoreply on top the existing plaster work as this would mean I could no longer put a 1100mm shower tray in (without cutting a notch which i'm not keen on, as i'd have to do that for the opposing brick side too).
Thanks in advance,
Danny.
