Refill Vaillant Boiler - help please!

I was hoping someone could help me with what I expect is a pretty basic query. My boiler has lost pressure & I need to refill it. Have searched online & watched videos, it seemed relatively straightforward with the videos showing a tap or screw being opened to allow the filling loop to let water into the boiler. However, my filling loop is shown on the attached & I can't work out how to open the filling loop to allow water into the boiler.

I am guessing that I need to open the left hand side as it looks like there is a thread for something in the hole just above where the filling loop connects to the pipe, but I cannot work out whether something is missing (such as a tap), whether a some kind of key needs entering into the hole (which I don't think I have) or whether the entire part needs turning with a wrench.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

A handle is missing, I know this because............

It looks just like mine.

It's supposed to have a handle like you find on a washing machine valve (The bit the hose connects to, one is red, the other is blue) But like mine, they often snap, so I just use an adjustable spanner. You turn the outer square part. There should also be another "handle" (usually bigger) on the other end of the braided pipe, but I can't see one in your picture.

Here is what my "filling loop" looks like from further back

I have to turn the black lever as well as the one with the missing handle

The valves probably had plastic taps that got soft and the square drive turned into an oval. I had my Vailllant filling loop taps replaced with metal ones which are far better. Use a square drive or a socket so the edges are preserved. I cannot see clearly if that is an isolator at the other end used to stop backflow?
