DIY kitchen gas hob fitting.

Post by Damo3716 »

Hi all. I'm renovating my kitchen and have a question. I would like a 5 ring gas hob and the smallest I can find is 700. Can I install a 700 hob over a 600 cabinet? If so, what adjustments would I need? I'm guessing some sort of cut out of the neighbouring cabinets either side to allow it to sit deep enough? Thanks in advance.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Try to get hold of the fitting instructions for the hob before you buy. They should tell you if it will fit.

The Cookology one in this screeshot looks like it could fit. You will need a gas safe fitter to connect it. I believe hobs need solid pipework for the gas supply.

Good advice from Stevei , however you will also need to take into account any cabinetry etc. above the hob, you need 50mm clearance above on both sides of the hob.

i have 2x 600 cabinets with a 900 5 burner gas hob over the two , pretty much center of the 1200 width

can you show how you plan to put the 700 over the 600 cabinet , does the worktop overhang - or is it just a run of cabinets and the 700 happens to span 2 cabinets
