I'm still looking for a van but after some research I've decided on either a VW or Merc. I know I'll pay a lot more but I've discovered the new 1.5 Renault, Citroen and VXhall are practically the same van. Milligans auto electrics on YouTube said he wouldn't buy any of those vans as they are fraught with faults with the adblue system. He recently diagnosed a faulty sensor on one of those vans and it was £1100!!!

I thought about a pickup but the fuel consumption and lack of space at the back put me off.

The German sourced vans are better, French vehicles have always had problematic electrics. I think you would do better joining Tom's firm, less hassle and expense.

The French have the small van market sown up no matter the brand It's got a French diesel even ford use a PSA/Renault based engine

The gearbox is the weak point on most German vans

it also depends on your budget and what age you're looking for

I like a van anyway regardless whether I would be using it for work. I'm always picking stuff up on FB marketplace. It's really just me in the house so no need for five seats.

what renault or citroen van was it thats the same as the citroen and vauxhall? i thought theyd gone the other way

renaul master like ive got was same as vauxhall and nissan

now it seems the vauxhall is the same as the citroen and the current renault master and nissan vans remain the same

What does PSA mean?

Stellantis thats the word I couldn't recall. According to a van dealer Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall etc are all owned by Stellantis and they're all basically the same van.

I did fancy a Ford Transit but they're apparently run by the wet belt system which if fraught with problems. I've been advised to go for either the VW or Merc although Toyota are well known for their reliability which I'm unsure if that extends to their vans.

I keep changing my mind.

Wet belts are a pain, you need to keep up with oil changes every 5-6k miles and belts every few years
