I was reading today that Rylan Clark got into a bit of bother on X (me neither) by moaning about people who do not wave thanks to drivers at zebra crossings. This bugs me too, my experience shows bad manners to be driven by areas you are in. I always acknowledge a driver letting me cross with a wave of thanks, it costs nothing and it shows that you appreciate that the car has stopped for you. When we have been on grandchildren's taxi service it can be a bit of a job battling through the rush hour traffic to get home. We have various back doubles routes we use and one takes us by Harold Wood Station. We always hope to pass the crossing before a train disgorges its passengers as they trail across the zebra taking all the time in the world. They are in the main a miserable bunch and I make a mental count of who waves or nods. Out of thirty odd crossing last Friday only three gave thanks. There was a schoolboy, a black lady, and a bearded student type. The rest, nothing. So I can understand Clark entirely and agree with him, it is simple manners.

I concur, just be polite. OK stick 2 fingers up if a motorist/cyclist doesn't stop at a crossing, just give a smile or a wave when they do.
