Weird Sound After Central Heating Turns Off… Help!!!

Hi,

I’m hoping someone can help me out!

I have a very strange sound coming from the pipes directly above my boiler every time my central heating turns off (the sound also stops when I turn my water taps on). I have attached a video to show the issue.

I have an Ideal Logic Combi Boiler ES35 which is just under ten years old, It has been serviced regularly. I have replaced both actuators over the last few years and have recently bled my radiators to see if this would resolve the problem. The system water pressure is around 1.5 bar and there are no error codes showing.

The system is still working fine but I’m trying to preempt a problem.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this or is it time to call out an engineer?

Many thanks for your help in advance!

Stophen.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I’m glad the video was clear enough.

Do you have any ideas or remedies for my problem?

Cheers,

Stophen.

Here on the forum some try to upload videos, and they never use the

to see the quality of the video/pictures, I was just commenting that your video is good. I am NOT a plumber or heating engineer. If I were to guess, I would say it's pump related, maybe a blade has come off the impeller. Sorry it's not the answer you wanted.

I am not an expert but I wondered if it was the extraction flue fan bearings? A £16 part but a Gas Safe fitter required as it deals with flue gases.

Thanks for both of your answers.

I think it's probably time to call out an engineer before something happens.

Cheers, Stephen.

!SOLVED!

Just in case anybody has the same problem the culprit turned out to be a faulty ‘Automatic Bypass Valve’ (picture attached).

Now it’s been replaced the system is working silently again.

Hope this helps someone out, Stophen.
