Is there an easy fix for a door that has pulled the screws out of the frame?
Its a pretty light bedroom door, council house, and the frame seems to be nothing more than 4x1 at most, leaving maybe 3/4" once the hinge is let-in, the screws have pulled out. Looks like larger ones have been fitted in the past which have also pulled.
It's a 3" hinge so not sure if going to a 4" will help or if i move the hinges up/down, the frame will just split when the screws are fitted.
Any ideas for an easy fix?

Door re-hanging issue
Post by dewaltdisney »
The usual method is to glue in some wood slivers and pack the original screw holes. Then, redrill a thin pilot and re-screw.

You may need to team the holes out a little but an easy fix can be to put rawlplugs into the frame and then screw into them. Another relatively simple fix is to drill right through the frame and into the brickwork and use something like a 4”screw.

Door re-hanging issue
hinges are normally no7 4mm screws fully threaded do not use longer or larger screws than the frame can take
larger screws will start to make the door hinge bound [spring open at shut point] as the screw heads clash as no longer rebated in the hinge
sometines if a larger screw has been used a small yellow plug or length wise part red plug can help inserted behind the hinge

Yes that can happen if larger or rather wider screws are used . I have in the past enlarged the countersink to accommodate larger screws . The hinges can also be chopped in a little deeper but leaving the knuckle end the same thus meaning the faces stay further apart.
