Hi new on here hello all, so I need to know which width of combined folding wooden ladder I should purchase as my joists are just under 570mm. Can I purchase a 110 x545 ? Or if possible to find 570mm wide? Fortunately I dont need to worry about lenght I have a 24 year old house with roof truss type attic. Any advice welcome. Thankyou.

If you go with the 545 it only needs an inch of packing. You could do this with ply or other man made board.

I see the need for double rails, I am in that club too. But the double rail may impede you getting stuff up there so think of the box or crate sizes you intend to hump up.

Just saying, we use a "3 way ladder" to get in/out of the loft, we use the "steps" as hand holds (it has no handrails) as handrails considerably reduce the hatch width, it's OK with the "Once a year tree" (Long and conical) but the boxes just fit through the hatch (with the ladder there) smaller boxes sound a better idea, but some things just won't fit in a small box.
