Velux Style Roof Window

Post by Beav »

Hiya,

a property we are about to move into needs a velux style skylight replacing.

Velux themselves have said £950-£1050 so say £1000 give or take.

Would you say this is about right?

Had a few quotes from local builders/joiners who have said around £1000 as well. I'm thinking we may as well use a genuine velux window with the 10 year guarantee if the prices are the same?

Velux Style Roof Window

last i priced one up was a job in newcastle. it was a fire escape type velux that a student had left unlocked and the wind had got a had of it. it had been slammed up over and split the entire frame and the gas rams had forced it all apart.

just for the new window for a velux was £1000 from a merchants in gateshead. i would have wanted a day for me and the youngun to fit it plus scaffolding outside to actually get to it. would have been likely £2k by the time all that was taken into account
