Strange light switching issue
Evening everyone, hoping someone can help. My brother has just swapped a fluorescent ceiling strip light in his rental cottage for an LED one. Live and neural simply connected into the original termination points. The light is operated by a 2G 1W light switch, the second switch operating an outside light. Strange things are now happening that weren’t before. If he turns off the ceiling light and turns on the outside light, the LED glows dimly. With the ceiling light turned on, the outside light doesn’t work (this may have always been the case but he’s never noticed either way). The wiring in the switch looks strange, a 3c+earth standard 2w lighting cable and a T&E. The 3c red is used as the common and linked across both switch COM. The yellow goes to the live for the LED from L1 and the blue is in a terminal block, wired together with the T&E black. The T&E red is connected to L1 on the 2nd light switch which we assume goes to the outside light. There is 240v across N in the ceiling and the joined blue/black. The 3c blue is connected into the ceiling light live along with the 3c yellow. Not looked inside the outside light yet so not checked the wiring in the there. Any thoughts?
