Does masking tape "go off"

Post by hiace_drifter »

I have discovered that all masking tape I buy, after a few months in the garage, refuses to peel of the reel. The garage obviously has temperature/humidity fluctuations, but it's a bit frustrating to waste so much tape. Any suggestions/solutions?

i nolonger keep mine in the garage, in a plastic sealed container from Ikea (through loads of tape out various kinds and 10 rolls of masking tape - purchased in bulk to save money) - its in the utility room and this has now worked for years
can you keep it in the house ??

I find if put an old roll on a warm radiator it tends to soften the glue and it peels and sticks well.

I will try that with the 6 rolls I have of different vintages before I resort to a ceremonial bonfire! :)

It can also be revived by putting in a microwave for 10-15 seconds. I saw that as a tip on facebook of all places and having a roll that wasn't peeling off thought I'd give it a try and it worked.
