Morning all,

Please find attached wiring pics.

I'd like to add another light using the other side of this switch - what's the best way of achieving this please?

Is there a way of loping over the live and neutral?

TIA

Colin

heres diagrams of how 2 way lighting is wired
https://wiki.diyfaq.org.uk/index.php/2_Way_Switching
BUT there is NO neutral - you will need to get that from whereever the junction box is for the light
you maybe able to pickup the Live and neutral from the junction box / rose for the light

I can get a neutral feed to the switch - how would I then wire that up?

as said - NO neutral in that switch - its JUST live & switched Live - as shown in the diagram I posted

you need to identify if there is a LIVE perminate in that switch - MAY NOT BE Depending on how wired up -

Do you have a Multimeter and know how to use it ???

The feed is coming from this switch/junction box in the garage.

The brown is a permanent live from looking at this.

probably - BUT without testing cannot be sure
if it is , what are you planning to do - you will need to somehow get another wire into that other switch as a Switched live and connect that to the NEW light and find a neutral -

where is the light connection for that 2 way system - maybe be better to look at that ?? any pictures
also making sure its all on same circuit .... so isolation works correctly

this site may also help

Thanks

I can get a switch live wire to the other switch no problem, it’s just on the other side of the garage wall.

I’m nearly certain that is a permanent live as when I turn all the switches off it’s still live.

The new light will be connected to a transformer as it’s a 12v LED strip for above the garage door (IP65 rated).

The current switch is to the garage ceiling light

how are you testing
Neutral from the Garage ceiling light - again testign to make sure the neutral is NOT switched - its possible the neutral is switched in error

You have 2 way switching, there is another switch else where, that is why you have so many wires.
Have a look at the existing light, normally the supply is taken to the light first, then a cable run down to the switch.
So at the light you should find L,N,E

NEVER "pick up" a neutral (or other) from this little jb here or the back of this thing over here. And be aware, just because it works, does not mean its safe. Most multi meters are NOT safe to use on mains, get one of These its designed to be safe and work on the mains, most el-cheapo multi meters are not.
