Has anyone used one of those flexible chimney brushes powered by an electric drill to clean the flue of a woodburning stove?

-How effective are they?
-Is there a risk of the brush disconnecting and becoming stuck in the flue?
-Any tips on using?
-And can anyone recommend a good make?

My stove has a four-inch flue pipe connected to a five-inch flexible liner.

I think it is always safer to use a sweep, they have a combined vacuum and brush system to do a proper job. You really do not want to be breathing in the flue soot or getting it on your hands.

do a u tube search and see whats involved
i suspect the closure needed and extraction will make it an expensive, messy experiment without the right gear
