Soft close toilet seat problem

Post by TrevB »

The lid on my soft close toilet seat has stopped working (i.e. it just slams down like a regular lid). Does anyone know if it can be adjusted please? The seat itself is still working fine (closes slowly).

Cheers

Do you know what brand and model it is?

Am I right in thinking that is closes softly and slams about a centimetre or so from the seat?

I have a simular problem except on ours, the seat slams down but the lid is OK
Being replaced under warranty !
On ours if you look where the hinge shaft goes into the round body of the mechanism, a sticky gel is weeping from the seal, which I guess is the compound which retards the fall of the seat and lid.
If yours is the same type then replacement is the only option!

If it is still under guarantee I would take it back. I don't think they are adjustable ( I know that the girlfriends is not adjustable ).

They are a bit of a gimmick to be honest and are ok, but they get you into the habbit of just letting go of the seat, which can land you in a lot of trouble in other peoples houses when it just drops!
