I have just built a porch and have now got to tile the step (the porch is fully open, no windows etc) and i was wondering the best type of adhesive and grout to use outdoors, the tiles are quarry tiles, any advice would be welcome, I know BAL is a good make but not sure about outside.

As long as you use a good waterproof adhesive for outside it should be ok, just make sure you don't use a trowel with deep notches, as I believe it is the trapped air behind the tiles that can cause problems outside.

, i got a 3mm, 6mm and 10mm notched trowel, so i will use the 3 mm trowel then, should i go to a tile specialist shop for the adhesive or would something from Wickes etc be ok

I think a solid bed of adhesive is best for outside, a UHM says as long as the adhesive is marked as suitable for outside use it should be OK.

Depending on the size of the tile; go for either a thick bed solid bed, a thin bed solid bed or if you have a very small tile then go for a solid bed tipped trowel.
