Playing music throughout the house

I'm thinking about putting up some speakers in different rooms that all run from my media centre computer under the telly.
Has anyone done a similar thing? I want to run all the speakers from the computer and control what plays in what room via some software on the computer.
I'm not bothered about playing different things, but would like to be able to control what room it plays in.
