What's with all the Bum's?

Post by maryann »

Obviously I am new on here and finding my way around...so far I can't believe how much I have learned and how grateful I am for advice received.

Just reading other people's questions has answered so many problems I have suffered in past and it's been great fun reading through them.

But why are there so many bare bum avatars  I just get so fed up seeing them every time I open up another thread.

I fully expect to get shot at and told to clear off if I dont like it so go ahead and shoot me but it still begs the question, doesn't it all get a bit boring after a while? There are soooo many other funnier, more tasteful, bizarre options...why go for the obvious

I agree with you 100% maryann

There's a little button at the top say "ignore" if you press it on all the ones you don't like they go away. :thumbright:

nothing is being banned - just someone voicing their opinion.

just as long as no one tells me I can't have my pussy on show anymore
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Is that what it is then?

I'm not weird or anything honest and I do enjoy looking at attractive pictures of both men and women. If I see a lovely picture of a female and think blimey she looks sexy I nearly always ask my husband if he has seen it. I'm not shocked by bare bums or nudity I just find it horrible to keep seeing them every time I am trying to read a thread on decorating.

Besides - it's not just the bare bum is it - it's the actual pose I find offensive. The very old photo of the girl in the tennis dress showing a bit of bum isn't offensive - just funny.

My all time favourite sexy lady is Marilyn Monro and my daughter bought me an original film poster of her in the film Bus Stop which she had framed for a special birthday gift for me. She didn't need to show her bare bum to be sexy and attractive so have avatar's of lovely females by all means but with their clothes on would be so much more tasteful.

Thanks for the tip on how to turn them off - I'll definitely be doing that :thumbright:

Maryann,

:welcome: :hello2:
They're men, everything is visual! They can't show nude boobs, that what they'd really like to have!
We're women everything is in the mind!
One of the thonged bum avatars is perfect. It doesn't make them any worse at giving advice? It's when they talk out of them that you need to worry. The guys on here are great at giving help and they're a friendly bunch, I reckon that's all that matters. :thumbright:

Out of interest what would you rather see?

Hi Louise
Thanks for the welcome.

I agree the guys on here are great and the advice is brilliant - I think I did say that right at the beginning.

I have no right to say they should not be used at all and I'm not saying that and I'm certainly not suggesting banning. I was just surprised at the need to have an Avatar which was so suggestive on a website dealing with decorating etc. and wondered why the need to use it.

I fully expect to have people who do not agree with me - thats fine.

I would prefer visuals that are classy and suggestive rather than blatant, cheap and not very respectful to woman.

Thats all.....not wishing to ruffle any feathers ....just passing an opinion, and Hoovie, I love your pussy

Maryann,

You've not ruffled any feathers at all! Each to their own.

I keep changing my avatar, that annoys them because they look at avatars to see who posted rather than read the name! I'd have wall to wall George Clooney, well you can't beat perfection but I opted for just my patchwork avatar this time. It will be changing next month though.
You should choose your avatar.

hey maryann, :welcome: to the Forum.

Just want to point out that if you do the ignore option, then you are blocking not just the Avatar of that person, but their advice as well - so there is a consequence there :-)

If you really want to avoid the avatars, then there is another possible way ... They are all saved in this location "images/avatars/" so you could - depending on your router - block any files from that internet address, but you would block all or none.

If you use Firefox I think there is a much easier way - but I use IE so I don't know what it is

Bludall, you are right about people looking at avatars rather then names to spot posters - I do that myself. I have just changed my Dancing Pussy avatar on another of my forums, as another guy is using him as well and it confused me when I saw his posts and thought "I don't remember posting that  "

Personally I find Handyman's avatar one of the most disturbing. It looks like a headless chicken (plucked but still standing)...makes me retch a little to look at so I skip on by.
At one point everyone had catty avatars and that was why I made my paintycat (cos he is my cat and I am paintycait). Hoovie is one of the few cat ones left.

Maybe that should be the next competition...the most original non-bum avatar.

Cait that's a good idea.

My youngest found this one, she adores it.

That is exactly what I thought it was  , but when you know what it really is, it is quite amusing
