was talking to a chipie at work today....

and he told me that he taught himself through reading books.he said that he was just a general labourer for a building firm before he started reading and teaching himself.
do you think this is possible?

Yes if you have the ability and skills.
I can do most trades work now, simply by watching and asking silly questions over the last 50 years, exclude plastering
It may take me twice as long as a skilled tradesman, but that is only to be expected.

Certainly is, I am mostly self taught too. Reading and watching is a good provider then practice, practice. Always ask if unsure and learn by mistakes.

Yes Worthing was always a rough area even back in the 50s when I lived in elm grove w/worthing

Yes I was
although when I was born they were still dropping bombs on the place
Central and the front can get rough at night but no worse than most places with holiday makers.
