The youth of today!

Post by squidgy »

Returning home today after spending an enjoyable day in a traffic jam the misses and I were chatting about our fav pubs prior to us getting hitched 20yrs ago.
I happened to mention mine did scampi in a basket. I thought my daughter was having a fit :wtf:

When she finally calmed down and I'd told her what it consisted of she spent the next 15 minutes taking the p**s about the olden days. Is teenageicside legal! (She's too old to be the victim of infanticide).
Why do they think things from a few years ago are so naff.

Would it be spoticide?

 My two are 8 and 10, so I have it all to come. They still love all the old tv programmes that we watched, though even I struggle with the Banana Splits.

When we see youngsters wearing beanie hats on a sweltering day we laugh because we remember Benny on Crossroads and reckon they have his fashion sense! It works the other way round too.
I'm 43 and having lived through the 1970's I can't understand the love of fashion and patterns from that era in use today. I still reckon that we had it better as children though.

They are remaking the Banana Splits

worse bit of childrens TV crap ever made, that was
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

WTF  ..!

The Banana Splits ruled. Utterly Brilliant..!

I've wanted one of those 6 wheeled buggies for years LOL

Excepting the fact EVERYBODY involved with the show must have been on acid - it was still top brass kids TV

reckon YOU were on drugs as well if you liked that!!

The Banana Splits and the "Pink Panther, the rinky-dink panther" really did for me as well.

Hair Bear Bunch  :?

Obviusly I was never cut out to be a Hippy Flower-Child

Just for your, Slugster

Think of all the animals you've ever heard about
like rhinoc'ruses and tigers cats and mink
There are lots of funny animals in all this world
But have you ever seen a panther that is pink?

Think!

A panther that is positively pink,

Well here he is, the pink panther,
The rinky-dink panther,
Isn't he a panther ever so pink?

He really is a groovy cat,
and what a gentleman, a scholar, what an acrobat !

He's in the pink - the pink panther
The rinky-dink panther,
and it's as plain as your nose,
that he's the one and only, truly original,
Panther-pink (panther) from head to toes !

35-40 years on, that tune is still fried into my brain ::b :help:
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Hoovie, you've got me in tears for my long lost childhood :cb

Pink Panther
Hong Kong Phooey
Danger Mouse
Rhubarb and Custard
The Clangers
Bagpuss

Then the less homely stuff like
Tiswas
Swap Shop

Never, ever liked Jim'll Fix it though. He was / is one creepy S.O.B.

The Clangers - :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright: The Iron Chicken RULED

Swap Shop - I never had anything worth swapping though :cb

I programs I really liked and never hear about ever were:

The Tomorrow People (original one)
The Kids from 47a (does anyone else remember that, I wonder?)
Time Tunnel
Project UFO (aka Project BlueBook)
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Hectors House  - Oh yes :thumbright: :thumbright: Kiki the frog, Zsa Zsa the cat.... that's more like it.

Top Cat :thumbright:

Slugster is too young to appreciate the TRUE classics of kids TV

There used to be a Hammer Horror on Friday nights usually, didn't there?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

All my mates swear that i am talking rubbish.

I loved watching.

Thunder cats.
He- Man and the Masters of the universe.
Jamie and the magic torch
Danger Mouse (He's Exciting).
Bathink.
