new back door step

new back door step

i am going to put a step outside my back door as at te moment the bottom of the door is about 18inches above the patio, i am going to do using concrete but i want put some kind of damp seal between the new step and the bricks of the house,
What am i best using

In that case I would be tempted to put a cover flashing in the course above the step.

If you put a plastic membrane against the wall, water can still go down the back of it.

If you mark it our perhaps a sealing mastic painted on the wall would be an idea

Leave a 50mm gap between the concrete step and the brickwork
( l promise nobody will fall down the gap )

could i paint the bricks behind the new step with some kind of damp seal stuff,
i cant leave a gap, her indoors has said no :help:

Then her indoors needs to find out why you have a damp course and why it should not be bridged

Or look forward to posible future problems with the step built against the
brickwork

how far above the step should i go with it?
