When I've done tiling the bathroom I'm going to need to drill holes for sinks, towel rails, shower fittings etc...

I'm getting some diamond drills for the tiles (even though they are ceramic not porcelain and it might be OTT I still think diamond will go through easier, please tell me if I'm wrong here) but then I will need to go back to the masonry bits for the brick wall behind.

What I'm worried about it the masonry bit kicking and vibrating against the tile and cracking it.

Should I drill the hole in the tile a mm or two bigger than the masonry drill I'll be using behind it just to be safe?

Or am I a paranoid old woman..? (apologies to any ACTUAL paranoid old women reading this)

And I reckon the tiles, two layers of adhesive and the Marmox board I'm using will be about 30mm thick before I hit the brick - so regular rawlplugs will be useless.

So do you have any recommendations for deep fixings (I'm thinking of using Through Bolts for the sink (Screwfix 23935-91))

Might have answered my own question about the deep fixings.

The Fischer Plastic Wall Plugs look like they are the same diameter all the way along so I could just push them all the way to the bottom of the hole

I'd make the hole tiles slightly larger, just to be on the safe side.

Thru bolts are a good choice and are easy to use.

For any light weight fittings I would suggest some double sided sticky pads and silicone, as it works a treat

Diamond bits are OK for ceramics but are overkill, much easier using a spear shaped standard tile bit.

But I think it won't hurt to give me some wiggle room.

Drill hole in tile and into wall............then re drill just tile a fraction bigger..........so that the wall plug sits flush with the wall and NOT the tile
