Opticians

Post by 54aardvark »

Through advancing age I am reduced to varilux lenses - they are a big problem working on ceilings. I have to tilt my head way back to see what I'm doing consequently my neck is a right mess. Tried single vision lenses - great for close up work, but try and see anything further than a couple of feet (like the bottom of the ladder!) and I'm stuck.

Trying to find an optician who will make up varilux with the lenses upside down, ie the near vision at the top and long distance at the bottom - they all look at me like I'm barmy and say it can't be done - why? well it just can't! No-one is the slightest bit interested - for goodness sake, I'm offering business, I can't be the only one with this problem and think of the potential market for all sorts of trades.

You'd think with all this modern technology it shouldn't be that difficult.

They can put prescription lenses in swimming goggles, would a variation on that idea work at all?

That could be another option for opticians to make money. They could offer safety goggles with prescription lenses.

I had perscription lenses in my Scuba Diving googles - only problem is I don't wear glasses
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

As we're on the subject of optitions, its sort of like a reminder, that I will be asking you all for some advise regarding a slight problem I have with glasses.

I will need to pick your brains, and hopefully someone will come up with a solution, but will start another thread about it tomorrow, as trying to explain it will be a flippen nightmare.
I would rather want something I dont have, that have something I dont want
