Why are small children such bug carriers?

I've been back at work for a week and already picked up a heavy cold and sore throat from the little darlings!

Is it true that once children get to 11, they get fewer illnesses?

not really - they just move from messing with your body to messing with your mind

Hi Louise,
from experience i can say that what you are saying is true. it seems that the immune system of young kids is vulnerable. more so today because kids are becoming couch potatoes from school to their computer wiyhout any outdoor fun.mine got over this stage when i decided that they've had enough coddling from the missus and instead i took them out on weekends to fields where they could get as messy as they liked, the beach in winter where we swam in cold water without cathing colds.it seems to have worked . the rougher i treated them the more resilient they became.

Hi Victor,

I recovered from the cold and am now doing a 5 mile lunch time walk with the dog and another 5 mile evening walk with my 10 year old, I told her the fresh air would do her good, she loves it though! It's good because we talk the entire time and I'm finding out about her view on life, fascinating.
A sickness and tummy bug has taken over today! I'm washing my hands at every chance!

I was just thinking this today, went up to Scotland to see family and nephews - and today I feel a cold is well on its way, always the same when I see the kids I get ill!

Telmay,

You need to be around more of them then you'd get the cold but it wouldn't last as long!

Mrs H. went to a bonfire party with some of her little nieces and nephews. :thumbright:

caught a childrens bug :cb

In hospital for 3 days and put right by the nurses station in case she croaked it  (funnily enough, one of the nurses was an old student of hers  )

I got into trouble for not dialing 999 AFTER they sent her home from casualty hour earlier with tablets 1" wide to take because her throat had closed up

Evil little bug carriers :angryfire:

Oh, the peace and quiet

I will pass on that Blu thanks, I have a low threasehold as far as kids are concerned and prefer very limited contact :-)
