Hi guys,

I've recently bought two netbooks for me and the missus to use on the move and they are brilliant. Everything you need in a laptop unless you want to play new games or edit massive amounts of video (in which why not use a desktop?).

I bought the missus the advent from pcworld which is imo the best of the xp netbooks at the minute by far. For myself I bought the webbook from carphone warehouse which again imo the best linux one at the minute.

If advent were doing a linux version that would be the best notebook by a long shot. I love these thing small and to the point.

The main problem for me is keyboard size. Small keyboards seriously wind me up as I tend to hit more than one key at once, even though I do not have large hands for a guy.

Agreed Scruff. There is something about OSX and the related software that makes it all 'hang together' so nicely. It feels like Windows should be but isn't.

Agreed UHM which is why when I am using a notebook at home or office I have an extra external proper sized keyboard (wireless) which I can use with notebooks.

And it does not end there either I cannot stand those finger pad mouse things on notebooks so I always carry a mouse with me to use on a notebook.

I use the MacBook Pro and Windows, probably 70-30, mostly because I have windows office software, and I have one laptop I keep off the net.

I have MS Office on an Apple iMac here at home - just in case any readers were to think that MS Office is only available to run under boring old Windoze. No reason not to buy Apple.

And when it comes to pricing, yes Apple products are generally more expensive, the reasons are quite simple - Apples (all) are real quality build (the sound and video as standard is way above anything, even as an option that you get with Windoze) and OSX is a fantastic o/s, it actually does what it says on the tin faster to load, fast to shutdown and fast in use and exceptionally user friendly.

@IDontBelieveIt

No... the price is the reason.

Macs are too expensive by far and as I've mentioned before I can do everything I need to on a free linux o/s which I find easier than osx and its more secure and you get all the eyecandy just the same. All comes down to why pay more when you don't have to. £1100 vs £200 hhmmm wonder what i'll be buying. So it would cost me £2200 instead of the £500 I actually paid.

Besides anything else you're missing the point of these netbooks.

@ UHM

Keyboard size isn't a problem as both the netbooks mentioned have decent sized keys and they're practically full size anyway, its only when you get into the 7" screens you have that problem.
