Rip off British Gas

Post by bobbie-dazzler »

I pay my Gas by direct debit, they take a certain amount out every month.

Just received my Gas bill, they have decided to increase my DD by £30 per month, now, you would think I was in arrears, no, I am £112 in credit
So I rings them up, told them I dont want them to increase it, as I am over £100 in credit, they said they have worked out that monthly consumption is X, and I should pay X.
They wouldnt budge, so I told them to cancel my DD, and I will pay the gas bill when it comes in.

Then she had the bloody cheek to ask me why I havent got dual fuel with them, as I will get a discount if I have my electric with them.
I said no way, cause if your going to expect another £30 per month for gas, then god knows what you expect for the electric. :angryfire:

I have DDs with British Gas and was paying approx 6 times then my current usage. Called them up and told them how much I wanted to reduce my monthly DD to and had no issues at all to sort this

I am sure it is partly down to the person you end up speaking to - some of these call centre people can be right tossers.

BG have just increased the Gar Tarriff on Click 5 - which is the on-line service account - by 42%, so if you have that account, don't be surprised to see that £100 credit disappearing
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

we had the same trouble, we changed suppliers in the end, now we get gas & electric from hydro electric (scottish & southern)

Hoovie, when they tried this on a couple of years ago, I gave them hell, and they didnt increase it, butI had sent them an email about it, but this time I phoned them, but she was very nice with it. lol

As to the increased tarriff, I cant even be bothered to look, as trying to keep before I fly out tomorrow, but when I come, relaxrd, refreshed, then I will give them hell. :boxing:

BTW, I hav'nt forgotten, its all written down in my little note book, what I have to bring back.

Phoned BG today Bobbie.

Reduced the DD by £17 a month and refunded 60% of the credit, could have had it all but I like to be on the right side. :thumbright:
