Correcting wind in plank

I bought a length of 100 x 25mm planed softwood. Though it was perfectly straight when new, when it dried in the room it was intended for it had a pronounced twist. To plane it flat over a 1000mm length, it would end up 10mm thinner. Would it be ok to force it straight as it is, or kerf it at 50mm intervals?
