uhm or anyone

see the dimensions you give in the 'how to' section on the site, are they building control type dimensions, or made up through experience??

Seen another decking job done, and you can already feel the boards are twisted under foot (just walking over them), and the boards were only layed 3 days ago. Pitch is about 600-700mm on the joists, and on posts that look about 60mm-70mm square.

Not sure if there are any building control dimensions for decking. I researched a few places for the joist spacing. For the deck I built I added plenty of additional noggins and the deck was extremely strong, I bet you could drive a car over it if you wanted to.

this other job appears to be way under what spec you would need to keep the decking flat during extremes of weather

There are a lot of people that cut corners and then end up with an inferior job. I would much rather over engineer something rather than under engineer it.
