What on earth is all that about?! Okay I know it's cold, but I saw a guy walking two dogs this morning (King Charles Spaniel and other non-descript little thing) both wearing coats...

Did this guy think that, after thousands of years of evolution, the dog hadn't yet grown an adequate enough coat, and needs extra insulation from us humans? Pathetic!

greyhounds dont have enough fur or fat to keep warm in anything under minus 3 or thereabouts for more than a 10 min walk

Its the same for me

If you keep the dog indoors all day, it won't grow a winter coat.

I used to keep a goat and come this time of the year he'd grow a really thick winter coat, but he was out all day.

Dogs are animals, animals should be kept outside.

you may find that he is the kind of person who "loves" his dogs

i have never understood people who treat them like they are there children.

I have a dog - a border collie and she wears a coat, but only when we're away in the motorhome and it's raining when I take her for a walk last thing. A wet dog in a motorhome is not good and as we usually don't have heating on, it means she has to spend the night with damp fur, which is not good for her either. As for dogs not developing a winter coat if they are kept indoors, that's hogwash, you should see the thickness of my dog's fur at present. :?
