please could someone pls help

we bought a new kitchen from Rock Solid Kitchens - we installed the kitchen & left the doors to last. Having found the caracasses do not have the Recessed holes for Kitchen door hinges to fit into. So we are stuck as we dont wanna drill holes & mess it up. Rock Solid dnt wann a knnow & keep giving us the run around with 0800 numbers !

Does anyone have template to drill recess holes so the hinge can fit neatly into the caracass for us to hang the doors, or something with perefct dimensions for the hinge to fint into the carcasses,

they should be able to fax you a template or something. are the units high line or drawer line?

Wolfcraft sell a square that has templates for setting hinge brackets your local timber or tool merchant should have them and it comes with instructions!

thanks for the posts - I have phoned the customer services as they suggest - though to no avail. - they give another number ending 2702 - though no one picks up - when i finally did manage to speak to someone they said speak to CS. So when i finally get to speak to some1 in CS they said fax, email, or post your query - having sent 7 emails & have copies to prove it - still no response - it been 2 months now !

Had we known this we wouldnt have bought it..

Chek out SCREWFIX forums and youll find alot of complaints about this company if its only the hinge plate holes that have not been done theyre verysimple to do all you need is a couple of bits and a cordless and lots of patience, jump back on here if you want step by step guidance

Hi DIYKID

All you need is a "Forstner Bit" the size of the hinge.

Then all you do is get a scrap piece of wood/board/sheet, and cut it to the same height of the door. Like a bit of plinth or MDF. Plinth is perfect for this as its not too wide! Mark your hinges on it and cut two recesses out to fit you hinges. This will allow you to make adjustments (professional term for mistakes). Screw it to the unit on the hinges and open and close it like a mini door to make sure it sits right. Once its right, drill the holes all the way through the board and you've got your template.

Once its right, clamp it to your door blank and use the the holes as guides. When drilling, just cut the hole it steps, checking the depthe regularly. Let the too do the work and don't push it too hard, as you may end up going all the way through!

Hey presto, job done! On to the next door!!

Its easier than you think. The hardest part is getting the hole in the right place. Trial and error, keep going and don't worry about making mistakes on the template. Thats what its for!

I got the drill bit to recess the holes into the doors as per thisn link cheers

Thanks for that, So im working on the trail & error of using an old MDF to do the holes...getting better, though still not quite there yet !

Now I also need holes from a template from Woolcraft - but hey aint got thm locally to where i am - as i still needs to drill as accurate as possible into the doors.

You can buy a concealed hinge template for the marking out off of ebay for 80p.

You've bought the hinge cutting bit already.

Am I missing something ?

Nice one Diykid. Hope you're not being too critical of your work. Remember. the hinges are designed to be super adjustable so the holes don't have to be millimetre perfect. Even being out 5mm is fine as most hinges allow that as their max!

ok thanks for the tip...5 mm is plently of play...but no one local to me has any woolcraft templates for drilling the holes into the units.

Yes i now have the Forstner Bit..& stil practising the drilling on a MDF

Hi diykid

You can make yourself a simple jig to drill the holes in the units from a
piece of board and a timber batten

And so you dont drill the holes to deep,use the size drill bit you want for
the hole drill through a piece of dowel or square timber, cut it to the
required lengh and slide it back onto the drill bit

could always just put a bit tape round the drill shaft. thats what i normally do if i have to go a certain depth
