Help - removing dried grout from slate floor tiles

Hi all - I'm new and have to confess to a disaster.
I laid my new bathroom floor beautifully - Brazilian slate tiles. The problem is, I did not wipe up the excess grout. It has dried rock hard. If I attack it with a blade I will scratch the surface of the slate.
There is a lot of excess grout on every tile. How can I remove it without damaging the slate?
I appreciate it's a stupid mistake but I can't be the only one ever to have made it - there must be a solution.
Thanks in anticipation
