Afternoon all, could you please help me.

Im having a bit of a dilema and being told by 2 builders different things. I skimmed my bathroom walls last week and am tileing them this weekend.

I always thought you were to PVA 4:1 before tileing, one builder is saying this is bad as it creates a barrior between the wall and tile which may fall off.... The other is saying if you dont PVA then the brout can pull the moisture from the wall and fall off...... talk about dilema !!!!

Can someone please clarify the best course of action, I am also hoping that 2 weeks is long enough to leave fresh skimmed walls as I just read to leave several months !!!!

Your help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

pva-why-you-shouldn-t-use-it-as-a-tilin ... -t168.html

try this christoff, i agree as well you shouldn't use PVA before tiling as the tiles will fall off after it has dried :thumbright:

It's best to read the instructions on the adhesive that you are going to use and if it recommends using a tiling primer then use the one they specify.

If the plaster was just a skim it will normally be dry in a few days, it can take weeks if a backing coat and skim is applied.
