Stairway Makeover

Post by Aussieinessex »

Anyone got any ideas on how I can improve this look on a stairway?

Hopefully my image will appear.

Is it easy to do?

How much for the cladding material?

How much time involved?

As much as the cladding looks good, how slippy is it ?

Aussieinessex

Straight flight is easy, gets a little more complicated with turnings or
curved treads

Normal straight flight about 280-300 for materials

The above 19 tread staircase took 5 full working days to complete from
the time of cutting off the old nosings to last coat of varnish

Skiking

Its no more slippery than a varnished floor depends what is being worn
on the feet

Bare feet, cotton socks and rubber soles are ok

Nylon socks, plastic or leather soles, roller skates no good

An anti-slip strip can be fitted in a groove to the front nosing

Thanks for this. This is very helpful.

Just wondering where you would have bought the oak from.

Would "Tiles r Us" do it? Or is it a bit more specialised?
