Wheelie bins and Local councils

My mum is 71 and lives in the middle of a row of terraced houses, she uses her wheelie bin and the recycle bin as she should do.

When she leaves the large recycling bin outside of her back door the bin men take it to the top of the back of the street ( 60 yards away ) and then empty it and LEAVE THE BIN THERE

I just phoned the council and they said that they are supposed to leave the bin at the collection point ( top of the street ).

Why is it that each year council tax goes up and yet we get less service for our money?

Is it because the fat cats at the council offices are creaming off the money in salaries?

yup, the oap's here get the bin taken out, but not put back.

Main thing to remember is if your phoning to complain, they do anything and everything to stop you making it a 'proper' complaint, and not just a phone call. Making it a proper complaint means a faceless unaccountable overpayed idiot actually having to deal with you.

Always ask for a complaint number, so you can get a proper answer to your complaint. The more actual numbered and logged complaints that are given means theres more of a chance something will happen

They are sending me a letter, which I will fill in.

When I said that my mum is 71 the guy said " we cannot discriminate against anyone"

I wonder then why it is that my girlfriend who lives about 2 miles away puts the bin at the end of her drive and gets it emptied there and left there- no walking 60 yards to recover it from a collection point?

Surely that is descrimination against people who live in terraced houses

Round here they make special arrangements for the elderly etc.

Exactly what goes on a most councils. No that's not right ALL councils.

this whole new bin collection thing is a pain in the arse.... chez if you can have a word with the binmen.... they wont mind putting it back usually if they know its for a poor old dear.

you wont get anywhere with the councils; they exist to make our lives miserable!

mum in laws same as yours ,Mrs had a word with binmen and they do it now no probs at all
waste of time going to council

and if not already done, get the house number painted on the side so no one can claim it as theirs as it is handy!

Nor me, yet every borough within spitting distance have 2 or 3.

You cant really talk to our binmen, as they are from the EE.

But, they know enough english to knock on your door and wish you a merry xmas lol
