An NVQ3 is a site based qualification anyway's. Qualifications will get you on site where you'll in turn gain experience. NVQ3's a supervisory qualification, so you'll be able to apply for foreman, teamleader and manger jobs!
I'm NVQ3'd up and now run teams of chippy's for different companies doing mainly commercial work! I went from £12-15 per hour as an ordinary chip, to £20-25 per hour as a working foreman!
I always aim to have more tickets and qualifications than the next bloke, as this always gets you more contacts and more work! In turn more experience and then more work!!!
Next year I aim to get my skidsteer Bobcat and all terrain telescopic handler tickets!! I'm also booked in to do a 3 month Timber Framing Apprenticeship in the USA doing post & beam and cut frames, and a SIPS and engineered timber beam installers package both with the manufacturers who in turn recommend me as an installer to architects and QS's.
My NVQ3 has opened more doors for me than my 14yrs time served!
