I am trying to fit a electrical bait device (no more than 5 amps) within my loft, the only power supply l have access to is the lighting circuit. Can anyone advise a method that i can use without having to pull through some ring main cable?

You need to wire a 5amp round plug into the circuit wire, this is the wire that runs from one ceiling rose to the next.

You have to use a round socket and plug so that nobody can plug an higher amperage item in by mistake-

If you have junction boxes then you can take a supply from there to feed the socket.-



If the device that you want to plug in is a transofrmer then you will need to make another plug in socket to convert the round pin socket to square pin. If it has a plug on the end you can replace this with a round pin plug.

You must ensure that the lighting circuits are earthed, unless what you are using is double insulated and does not require earthing.
