Technology:.. Having had many years in the service & repair of electronic equipment

(My opinion only) of today's brown good's ie tv's , dvd, dvr, pc's, games, moniters, etc.. is.

The manufacturers, but ultimely the top Technicians who design these goods for the consumer are many steps ahead unknown to us the public

We buy what we think is the latest technology but better are kept in reserve then released to the unsuspecting Joe public much later after having squeezed the last penny out of us.

I think the Latest Technology is old hat!

I agree completely.

They sell the old ( New technology ) when they have even newer technology. I see that there is now technology out there to replace LCD's/Plasma TV's

pc stuff is the worst ,i remember years ago buying a 8 speed cd writer for 160 quid ..dogs danglies when it was out but 16 speed was already done and dusted just not selling it
they could have gone to 48 speed straight away but chose to con people by only going up bit by bit
same thing happened with dvd writers 1 speed ,2 speed ,4 speed etc etc

2 years ago picked up a digital camera - 3.2 Mp, £120, top dog! Just picked up a 10.2 with all the trimmings for £65 - bet its out of date next week.

Turned down the option of half price 1Gb SD card as I had one in the old camera which upped the capacity x5 - slipped it into the new camera........... its only 126Mb, hardly touched the capacity!

The software buffs must be in league with the hardware folk, I can't believe how much memory programs take up to complete a simple function you coped with quite happily on a 286 a few years ago. Hence you have to upgrade just to be able to type a letter and, getting back on thread, you know that even if you have bought the top flight gear, it will be obsolete by the end of the year and any new software will barely clunk along.

I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra if I knew I could get a sensible lifespan.

Of course they'll only let us have technology at a slow rate, so we have to keep changing it!.

Its like the i phone, could be so much better, but they'll save that for the i phone 2, out no doubt in a few months.

No doubt about it whatsoever, the products we will be using in 5 years time are already out of the design team and moving to production planning now.

If you think that is bad tale a good look at Mattel Toys Inc and Hollywood/the film industry. They are so much in bed with each other it IS a monopoly. By the time a new children's film/cartoon hits the streets Mattel have already had all the models and toys made ready to flood the market - so no other company has a look in on the act. That's 'free enterprise' for you... who mentioned 'free'?

My main grumble is the practice of including the plug in power supplies with everything from toys to torches etc, but no indication of which device they are supplied with. OK when you have only a couple, but I have loads, and then I have the job of keeping tabs on which goes with what. As they are usually supplied by a third party maker, why can't they amend the label accordingly? If you mark them yourself, they could say you've damaged it if you have to return it for any reason.

These plug-in psu amass plentifull these day's i usually stick a label on the game or whatever device stating the voltage, current, (amps) and polarity ..label as marked on the power supply unit ie + -

Some games not so many don't state the voltage & polarity required next to the input socket of the device. As for devices that don't include the plug-in psu but have an input socket on the game... usually it is marked on the game label on the back to comply with regulations if you don't have any idea what to use then i can help.

If you don't wish to mark the plug-in psu or device then take a note of their details for future reference.
