Actually, it's one of those American style side by side fridge-freezers, so Ms Gadget and I shot off to Curry's and bought the cheapest freezer we could find that they had in stock. We found one for just over a hundred quid, and within a few hours had rescued the stuff from the freezer side of the combi, but it means I'm now drinking warm beer!.. :cb

Gadget if you take the grill off the bottom and give it a good hoovering
around the motor and other bits it maybe ok as they tend to collect a lot
of fluff and overheat

Can't bare the thought of you having to guzzel warm beer

To be honest, we've had a lot of bad luck with this particular freezer, and Samsung (ok, I know, not the best of makes) are sending a guy out tomorrow!

Haven't Samsung owned up to a 'design fault' for their American FF ? or was it one of the others - I'm still waiting for Whirlpool to own up to theirs ::b

Yes, the Samsung model we have had the design fault and we paid for it to be repaired (£230) shortly after the warrenty expired. When the fault was discovered we claimed for and got back the £230. Unfortunately (for Samsung that is) it was repaired before the fault was discovered, so the fault was put back in. When we had it repaired last week, it cost us nothing.
