Numpties

Post by ultimatehandyman »

I have been doing more driving recently than I normally do and I am amazed at the amount of numpties on the roads

I'm certain that there are people out there that have not passed a driving test.

Why do people set off so slowly?

I'm not condoning speeding here, but when setting off from traffic lights I get to just below the speed limit in maximum time and then the people behind me can also get through, before they change to red. There are some people that just p*ss about and set off like they are peddaling the damn car ::b These people are causing traffic jams and should be banned from driving.

Then you get Numpties at mini roundabouts, where everyone is waiting for someone else to move :?

Sometimes I wish I was driving a tank

I agree, I think the worst sitation is the mini roundabout when you all get there together, I usually put my foot down to go if the car that has right of way on my right just sits there and 9 times out of 10 they decide to move just as I do. They are a pain.

I had a gem down a country lane the other day. An old guy in a Rover turned a bend and as he did so he put his left indicator on, then a mile down the road he put it on again (he'd be going in a field), only to turn right! I was wary as I knew there waas a right turn so I gave him space to do whatever he was doing but it is dangerous if they drive like that!

Its incredible what some people do.

I watched a car drive the wrong side of a traffic island and round a roundabout the wrong way a month or two ago, a wonder they didnt come out onto the wrong side of the dual carriageway :?

I like the one's that stop at a roundabout, you follow them up to the roundabout you can see there is nothing on the roundabout
nothing a the junction to the right waiting to pull out but still they stop, don't they look as they approach ?.

Numpties! They seem to forget how to use a roundabout.

Why do learner drivers force their way through small gaps when it is my right of way? Are they being taught not to wait if a car is parked on their side of the road and I'm driving through on my unhindered side of the road? Annoys the hell out of me!! I give way to let big lorries and vans come through if it's a narrow road but the number of people who think "it's my right of way" and block the road simnply because they can't look further ahead!! ::b

You mean, the ones that are miles infront when your looking forward, then you look to the right approach the empty roudabout, accelerate to go, then BANG? :cussing:

Been driving in the dark a lot recently (early start/late finish). Have they stopped teaching folk about dipped headlights? Some of the country lanes around here are bad enough without being blinded, had to do emergency stops a couple of times as I simply couldn't see where I was going.

And another thing - folk who assume that as they have some fancy modern motor with good brakes that they can sit 3 foot off my back bumper at 50mph in icy/wet conditions - yes, brakes may have improved over the years but theres no corresponding improvement in reaction time.
I used to comfort myself with the thought that a towbar is going to do a lot more damage to their front end than my back end but just changed motors, no towbar.

If you really want to see numpties in action, try Tescos car park on a Saturday, seems like all sense goes out the window as soon as they turn in. I just avoid it when its busy - mind you its quite amusing as a pedestrian!

Then of course you get the Numpties that get to a mini round about and have not used their indicators, so you sit there stirring at the person on your right waiting for a clue. Then they turn Left, you give them a two fingered hand signal and they look at you like it is your fault :angryfire:

ive only passed my test in sept 08, try learning with Numpties driving on your arse, over taking you on blind corners only to get 5 seconds ahead of at the junction/ligths.

by far in my experince BMW drives are the worst! they were awful to be around on lesson, and still are, i make sure my friends who drive BMW know that they are the worst drivers, they are always on your arse, never thank you for letting them out (to the point where if i see its a BMW i wont flash them out.

tale gating should be a 6 point fine, i had a boy racer come right up my arse on a motor way, i was in the fast lane doing 80 if he hadnt of got up my arse i would of pulled out of teh fast lane to let him passed, took him 10 mins to get sick of driving at 65-70mph, he undertook me, with me doing a rather nice hand signal.
such is life!

Feva,

Good for you passing your test. I give learners a wide berth when on the road, best not to tail gate or panic them just in case they konk out or stop! I get cross about the number of learners on the country roads when I'm on the school run though, always the same ones. I'd have thought they'd be better avoiding school routes.

BMW drivers just think they are so superior, false sense of power. At least we have fore warning if one is on the road that they are poor drivers!

Many years ago (MK111 Cortina) I was sat behind a lady driving a Cortina too, we were waiting to pull out onto a dual carriage way. To her left on a Push bike was the local bobby (honestly) she waited for ages before pulling out, I looked the road was clear to Brighton so I pulled out too, BANG right up her ar5e the t*at had stopped for no good reason. Handbrake on, out of gear she drives off. I look to my right, I'm now level with the bobby, he bends down looks in at me, I shrug, he smiles, I feck off.

I did rearend another lady when younger too  but that was the fault of two lovely young ladies on a crossing
