Shower Tray Installation

Hi,
I'm about to Coram shower tray. I am going to Aquapanel the area where the shower tray is going and tabk over it. The instructions for the shower tray say "Ensure the tiling uptand is resessed into the wall or boarded over so the tiling face is flush with the edge of the tiling upstand".
It was my intention to board all behind the shower tray and push the shower tray up to the boarding.
I don't fancy boarding over the tile upstand as I would never get the shower tray out if I needed to again.
If I Aqua panel behind the shower tray can I cut a channel in the Aqua panel so the shower tray is recessed? If so how?
What should I do?
Thanks in advance.
