We want to lift the ceramic tiles from our kitchen floor and replace with vinyl/marmoleum. We have underfloor heating down which is on a bed of plywood. How do we remove the heating wires from the tile adhesive? Can it be done without damaging the heating system? What base would we need to put down to relay the vinyl?

Do not remove the tile adhesive or the wire. it is probably impossible to do without damaging the system.

When you have carefully removed the tiles without risking the adhesive, you will then need to use a suitable latex screed and lay the vinyl tiles over it, using a suitable adhesive which does not react to the heat.

Alternatively, the manufacturer of the heating system may offer a second element as a spare part so you can remove the whole thing, reboard, put in the new heating element, latex, and tile. More work but you will reduce the height by a few mm.
