Hi,
I will be tiling my bathroom soon. I had planned to use the waterproof membrane you can buy at Topps Tiles (50 quid for 5 sq.m) for waterproofing the shower cubicle area of the wall.
I have now decided to use 10mm thick 30cm by 30 cm marble tiles. My question is will the membrane be ok for the marble or will the marble be too heavy for the tile? If so, what should I use for making the area waterproof?
Cheers

I have travertine in my bathroom and I don't have anything complicated, just tiled the plaster, sealed the tiles and grouted. That should in itself be waterproof enough for a shower walls.

Most leaks in showers occur where the tiles meet the shower. If you are going to use additional waterproofing, I wouldn't waste your money on the higher up parts, they don't tend to leak. Make sure you get the tray installed correctly and your walls are solid, and you should be fine.

Always read the instructions on the tile adhesive before you mix it.
