Hi, I am going to tile with atlas concorde rectified tiles 150 mm x 560 mm. My question is how thin a grout line can I get away with? Thanks for your help. P.

I presuming they are wall tiles going off the size, I think they say 1mm ok for walls BUT & this is a very big BUT. You have other factors which must be taken into consideration to have a 1 mm grout line, you will need to have very very high quality tiles, a very stable and flat substrate with no movement and a very good line of sight!

We recently did a job with similar tiles from Atlas Concorde, they were bigger though, 600x600, just to give you an idea, these were very high quality rectified porcelain tiles with a tolerance of +/- 0.1% it said. A very fine tolerance indeed but if you equate that to a 600x600 tile, it gives an acceptable deviation of +/- 0.6mm & it doesn't take much to lose your 1mm grout line then.

We go for 3mm on floors & where possible 1mm on walls but the walls have to be constructed & prepped to the highest possible standard & perfectly level in all directions (easier said than done)

The tiles are going on 25mm wbp....I'll be using 150 x 560 and 301 x 560. The surface is not large, they are going flat on a work surface and the line of sight is good. The pattern is: one 301 mm wide tile with a 150 mm wide one on either side so about 600 mm wide x 2 m in length, finally the tiles are 10 mm thick.

It'll be a tough one to get perfect Pierre especially with the different sized tiles, definately one take time on & get right

You will also need to take into account the grout for this Pierre, if its a food preparation or hygiene critical area, use a suitable epoxy grout, which conforms to the current food hygiene regualtions.
