Hi.

I'm planning on installing a kitchen extractor fan.

My plan is to add a spur to the exsisting ring main using 2.5mm tw&e and an FCU. Then wire the extractor to the FCU using the cable provided with the extractor.

Is this ok, if so should I be using a 3 amp FCU?

Thanks

Paul

Yes that is fine, just make sure you have actually got a ring main your connecting into by breaking the cables at a socket and then putting them into connector blocks . Then using a multimeter test for voltage on both legs of the ring to ensure the circuit is complete. a 3A fuse in the spur is required but may be a 5A depending on wattage of extractor.
