Hello Forum,

I am using a geforce 7100 256mb graphics card at the moment but i was told i can add 1 gig of the 4 gig of ram which i already have to boost my gaming performance i was also told its like shadowing if this is true could anyone give me any advice on how to do this.

My cards do that automatically so not sure.
Maybe there is a Nvidia program for it.
Download their overclocking software and give that a bash.
It's called Ntune and you can do alsorts with it.

its usually in the BIOS, but to be honest mate its not going to make much difference, your frame rates are going to be strangled by the GPU (processor on the Graphics (GFX) card ) rather than by the amount of memory, for example a higher end card with 128MB ram would run circles round yours even with more RAM.
the GPU is the bottleneck, my advice would be use what you have and save for something better - for example

avoid ATI 4650, Nvidia 9500, 8500, 9400, 8400 all strangled low end cards. Read some reviews, but take some with a pinch of salt (customPC for example use massive unrealistic resolutions which skew the results unrealistically low)

You do it all from your bios and you will see a difference when playing game with alot of shadow and fog etc Not as good as an upgrade but with the right tweeks you can get the most out of what you have. Instructions per clock will always bottle neck when you push but if it's getting the most out of what you have got then you need to set it all up in the bios.

the difference will be virtually nil GOMZS, the card has ample memory, the problem is the GPU.

Problem is GFX card manufacturers hype up all their products (even the low end stuff) as being able to run the latest games, what they neglect to mention is the tests were run on the low end stuff with all the settings turned to minimum, screen resolution set as low as possible and frame rates are barely above stuttering.

Don't get me wrong geordie1, its worth a try, I just dont see it making much, if any difference.

I think people who claim tgo be experts on an advice forum should be able to stand up to criticism and when uncovered for a fraud then UHM moderators shouldn't help their "friends" by covering it up.

I have noticed that you and scot post to knock me down and do it regular, if this is the way you conduct your site then so be it people WILL see it for what it is and make their own assessment.

Let's put it to the test and see how much scot really knows about electronic EMC, propagation etc.... Love to see it take up!

You need to cool down mate not I and remember you are talking to adults not children.

I know that scot made claims that he was experienced in radio communications and was unable to back up that claim, on the forum or in PMs, he also wound up a friend of mine insulting him in PMs and banned because YOU backed up scot even though you was sent the offending PMs...

If you want to be professional then act like it you prick.

im new here, but i dont know a thing or two about IT.

I have been working as an IT engineer for over 5 years.

In regards to graphics memory, using system memory shared between the system and the gfx card nearly always compromises system performance.

get a new gfx card ;)

Dont even try to overclock a graphics card from the bios or you will be upgrading to a new card sooner than you think, you can overclock the cpu but always lock your graphics card to 100mhz, use ntune to overclock the video card.
