palm sander at tesco

I bought a palm sander that came with about 6 velcro pads for £12. It also came in a propper hard carry case. It is a good piece of kit, obviously 240v. What's more it has a 2 year guarentee!

It is fantastic value for money, but it does state that it is for diy use, not professional builders, so if you are one, don't tell tesco or it will likely invalidate the guarentee

I've had this for about 8 months now, and have given it some stick.

It's excellent, and the most used corded sander I own. (out of about 5). I am really impressed with it.

It feels comfortable to use, and is very powerful.

They are still available from Tesco, although in my local store the price has risen to ~£19, and they are no longer sold with a hard case.

I steer well clear of cheap powertools. I have a mate that has a drill that orbits and a jigsaw that you can't cut straight with

well I was made redundant about 2 years ago, and I had only hand tools. I had to buy everything overnight, and had no savings so basically had to buy the cheapest powerplane/sander/chop saw etc etc etc that was on the market, just to keep in work.

They haven't all worked out well, but the ones that have are the ones I share.

I bought a 240v plane from B+Q for £12. Worked really well for a couple of weeks, which was long enough to get some money in the bank to buy a better one, which was lucky, 'cause it's crap now. There's a long list of stuff that didn't work out...

Well I have had a Lucas hammer drill for DIY work around the house. It works perfectly. I seem to be drilling holes everywhere. I even used it to drill some holes into the back panel of a Power inverter I once had. It was pretty intensive and destroyed several drill bits in the process but the drill performed effortlessly. Of course I have also come across a few rubbish tools.

While at it may I ask if anyone has head any experience with either Neilsen or Blackspur hot air guns. I need to buy one to use for stripping the wall paper in the living room. My son has written all over it with a permanent marker and I want to paint it instead

Hot air guns are no good for removing wall paper, you need a steamer for that.

Also hot air guns and steamers are normally very cheap and so you are much better off buying a Bosch or other decent make.
