Replacing metal light switch with plastic
Post by annabel1962 »
We are trying to replace our metal light switches with plastic ones. As there is an earth cable in place can we just tape that up and retain the metal box or do we have to replace the metal box with a plastic one. We were hoping just to replace the covers but are unsure about the metal box. Any suggestions?

You can put the earth wire into the earthing terminal on the metal back box and then fit the plastic switch.
You can see the back box earthing terminal on the pictures on this page-

yes , as UHM says put them into the metal earth terminal in the box or if it has not got one then put them all in a connector block in the box,. Its important to make sure that if there is more than one earth cable at the switch that they all go in the same terminal to maintain earth continuity.

If it isnt broke dont bloody touch it until it bloody well is and if it is broke then make drawing of the connections before you remove the broken one and replace with a new one LoL
