If you've got HDMI on both the PC and TV then I'd use that :thumbright:

You can covert pretty any signal nowadays most just with cable adapters rest you will need a conversion ancillary

Most popular

DVI - HDMI

VGA - DVI

VGA - Component/Composite

Like the last user said what model of TV do you have or just take a picture if you can and what options do you have on the graphics card ( Is it External or on-board ) etc

get one of these dont goto maplin though there rip-offs

http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?Tab ... &U=Strat15

and a hdmi cable, set the resolution on your PC to 1280x720

I'm pretty sure your computer has DVI output

that will work

Antony

you also want the MALE converter so the prongs are on the adaptor, your computer DVI output is Female.

hope that helps

your TV didnt have to just the Computer.. whats exact model of your PC and Exact model of the TV you can find this information on the Serial Label printed on the back of both appliances.

I Should be able to give you a precise solution this way.

I don't think your PC has a HDMI output - I am pretty sure GeForce 8's only had a pair of DVI connections.

I would take the tele back personally and get one with DVI or possibly VGA.

I think the HDMI connections can cause troubles because of their poxy encryption doodahs.

look 2 posts up he said he dont have DVI connections, he has VGA connections it is onboard graphics. hence i need the Exact model numbers and i can tell him 100% what he needs to do... you can convert DVI - HDMI as they are exactly the same signal apart hdmi carrys audio

HDMI's Encryption HDCP is only going to be an issue on HDTV set top boxes (sky/cable) and most PC's setup with Windows Media Center.... and if the latter is the case the pc would have a hdmi connection on it..

I shall bow to your great knowledge and perform ::b in recompense for not paying attention to the "onboard" bit.

I didn't realise the video signals are the same...

Personally I think all this hi-def stuff is a load of unecessary twaddle.

team effort is what helps people more ;)

i remember when RF and Scart/RGB-PAL was Fantastic.... then Composite then Componenet.... now HDMI its utter fascination as to how superior the signal from the previous Era is..... I Love TECHNOLOGY...

haha my ramble

HDMI is the lambo's of cars

A bit like the next Daz getting whiter whites than that last version that required singlasses to look at

I can't say I can tell the difference between the VGA and DVI images on my rig...

I suppose there is a marked difference between MPEG2 abd MPEG 4...

and 128kps audio is dire - 192 is fine...

see you wont see a difference unless there is a format being played on the TV or the size.. take a 92" LCD that is HD compliant. plug a PC playing random Videos on it and use VGA or composite.. then plug the Same PC into composite or DVI/HDMI and you will notice the difference

Audio is the same ... Bigger speakers on a lower sound bit and the volume is up you gonna hear distortion.. add thicker cable and a better quality speaker the sound s better..

all signals start at 1 position and have to finish at another position

lets say A - C

B= what that signal has to travel through to be converted to what we see as a viewable or hear as an audible format

if B isn't good enough then C is always going to = crap
